 "Understand before you buy" 2010-01-15
By Shiv Panda (MA, USA)
I bought this thinking its simple and straight-forward. Add water, coffee and milk and put it on the stove. End product is frothy coffee latte. Actually I got the expected result on the 1st day. That's it. Never again! Cleaned the maker yet never got the same result again. If I am doing something wrong then this maker is not straight-forward. Cleaning is not easy at all due to the shape of maker parts. And most important is the pressure value. Don't know how best to clean that. So its upto you now.

 "Cappuccino Maker" 2010-01-11
By Sylvia G. Cullivan (El Dorado Hills, CA USA)
Since coming back from visiting Italy and having a Cappuccino every afternoon, I started looking for a way to make them at home. I did not want to invest in a huge cumbersome unit, but found this one on Amazon for a very reasonable price. Now my husband and I go for afternoon walks and come back and have our Cappuccino. At first it was a little difficult to judge when it was ready and hot enough

but after the 4th or 5th time we got it right. I recommend this for the convenience of storage space but not for capacity as it only makes 2 cups at a time.

"Don't be scared of bad reviews! Great little cappuccino/latte maker!!!" 2010-01-10
By CaliGirl (California)
I originally purchased this a gift for my parents, but they already had one, so they let me have it, and I am soooo happy I kept it! Yes, you MUST follow the directions exactly, but once you do it a couple of times, it will become so easy!

From the very first time I used this, it has NEVER overflowed because I never overfilled it and I used medium heat. It has been way easier than I thought even though all of the negative reviews left me skeptical, but I went in with no fear and an open mind, and it has been sooo easy to use! Just follow the directions and you will be okay!

My only problem was the heat: the cappuccino or latte was always luke warm. So I went back to amamzon reviews and found someone had said to leave it on LOW heat for about 1 min. after the button pushes up to get extra steam/heat for the milk. This produced a hot drink. Mine did not burn the milk because the heat was on LOW and I watched it for this final minute.

So, as others have said:

1. Watch youtube or instructional DVD, especially helpful to figure out the pressure valve

2. Follow directions EXACTLY

3. One deviation: leave heat on LOW after button pops up to heat milk thoroughly

4. Rinse parts immediately-no soap(AFTER you finish your drink!)

5. It is a 2-COFFEE CUP maker (as in 4oz cup, not 8oz) so it makes 2 european cappuccino-size drinks, or 1 regular mug

All in all, a great little product that is econmical and easy to use! Don't let the bad reviews scare you! Easy to clean too, just take apart and rinse under tap! (how difficult is that?)

Also, Amazon has the best price I have seen-$99 elsewhere.

 "Best Latte Maker" 2010-01-07
By Carol M. Schnulle (Wood Dale, Illinois)
I love the Bialetti Mukka Express Maker. My old one had a black bottom that peeled. The all polished aluminum is a far better product. They have also improved the screw on top. And it makes the best latte!

"PERFECT--don't be afraid to get this!" 2010-01-04
By J. king
I have been researching this product for a month or so on various sites. I finally bit the bullet and purchased the aluminum model. I can't rave enough about it. I was almost afraid to purchase it, based on many of the negative reviews. However, I did NOT want to spend the $200+ for a fancy machine.

I know the directions say to throw away the first 3 pots to "season" it, but WOW. I loved it! I was shocked at the amount of froth that this little pot produced. I watched the video on the Williams Sonoma site, and I know that made a big difference in my ability to do it right the first time. I followed their directions very carefully--don't overfill, wipe away any stray grounds, and don't put on a large burner. I set the heat on medium high, and I used 2% milk. I heard the WOOSH sound, and saw milk bubbling just to the top of the pour spout. Honestly, this was the best cup I have had in a long time.

I highly recommend this nifty little product based on its ability to produce a great cup of cappuccino. Clean up was easy too--I made sure to clean it right after to ensure no milk build up.

BTW, my mother recently purchased a really nice $200 cappuccino/espresso machine. I think this pot was easier to make and clean up than hers. What a great surprise!
